Annual Report of CTEF Kerala  for the period 2020

Respected National President and  International General Secretary CTEF Kerala is presenting the Annual Report for your perusal.

ANNUAL CONVENTION AND  THREE DAY INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON EDUCATION FOR CONSCIENTIZATION:EMERGING GLOBAL TRENDS AT N.S.S.TRAINING COLLEGE OTTAPALAM  from 27th to 29th 0 February 2020

The seminar began with the flag hoisting ceremony led by Dr Ampili Aravind the Principal and mainstay of the institution in the presence of CTEF Kerala officials, delegates, members of the staff and students. The program was anteceded by the prelude function held at a college auditorium. The session gave hand to the audience by discerning the intention and objectives of the international seminar.

The second day of the international seminar was prosperous with the presence of delegates inside and outside India. The day commenced with a sumptuous lamp lighting ceremony. The dais was buoyant with the presence of dignitaries like Dr.G Gopakumar,Vice chancellor Central University of Kerala, Dr. K.M Bandarkar, National president CTEF India, Dr Ayyappan Nair Professor Emeritus Edinboro University Pennsylvania USA, Dr.G SarachandraRaj chairman CTEF Kerala,Dr Ampili Arvind, principal N.S.S training College Ottapalam and General convener of the seminar, Dr. Grace Annie Mathews, Chairman CTEF Kerala ,Dr.Mohan Meno,Deputy Vice -chancellor Wawasan open University Malaysia,Dr. Jose cherian H.O. D department of education Christ University Bangalore,Dr.V.M Sasi Kumar ,National Vice-President CTEF India,Dr.Rajeswari K. Dean and controller of examination RGNIYD Govt. of India, Chennai,Prof. Jacob Mathew and Dr.C.P Sreekandan Nair.

this was followed by an informative talk by Dr.G. sarathchandra Raj ,where he highlighted the Marxian traceof concentration and critical consciousness.Dr.Bandarkar shared the idea of quality education and he stated that a teacher is a torch bearer in the society. A teacher who is corrupt can destroy the entire nation. The dais was then handed over to the most awaited personality Dr.Ayyappan Nair. His words spotlighted the demerits of the new curriculum which is too technical and valueless.

The podium was then opened for the visitations initiated by Dr. C.P Sreekandan Nair. Dr. Grace Annie Mathew, Professor Jacob Mathew and Dr Devika are offered felicitations to the event.the Afternoon session was started with the technical session -1 headed by Dr. Jose Cherian on value education needs and realities. After that the session was scheduled for the paper presentations and paper presentation competitions at different venues.Every venue was thronged with post graduates ,research scholars and professors who had an excellent theme to present. A panel discussion on Higher Education in India -Present possibilities and future prospects was conducted as technical session-2,followed by general body meeting of CTEF as part of 18th annual convention. The second day session concluded with variety entertainment programs of the students of the college which showcased the art and culture of Kerala. The day was successful in arriving conclusions that might bring aspirations in the field of education and teaching.

The third day of the seminar begin with the parallel session of paper presentations followed by the topic of Dr Mohan Menon ,Deputy Vice -chancellor of Wawasan Open University on the topic Higher Education regular and open educational perspectives.

The Valedictory session of the seminar was inaugurated by Dr .Sarathchandra Raj. This was succeeded with the principal's addressal of the gathering and honouring of Ph. D. awardees. Dr. C.P Sreekandan Nair distributed the mementos for the Ph. D holders and the winners of the paper presentation competitions were given the certificate of appreciation and cash awards. Dr Bandarkar and Dr. V.Reghu felicitated. The valedictory session concluded with the vote of thanks by the Program Co-ordinator, Dr K. P Anil Kumar.

The seminar was a platform of gathering for teachers, graduates ,postgraduates and research scholars from various institution to share their interest on the change to be brought out in the praxis of conscientizing education.

CTEF Keral instituted many awards and this year the awards were distributed  in the annual conference. CTEF Kerala awards were distributed by professor Dr.G Gopakumar Vice -Chancellor of Central University of Kerala and National awards were given by Dr K .M Bandarkar, National President CTEF India. N.S.S Training College, Ottapalam bagged Dr. N.D Joshi Memorial Award for the and Dr K.P Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor of the College was honoured by National award for Accomplished Teacher Efucator in South Zone.

This year the awards  goes to the following CTEF Life members:

Awareness Programme on Disaster Management

 An awareness programme on disaster management was conducted on 18th February  2020 in Govt. College of Teacher Education, Kozhikode in collaboration with CTEF Kerala.. Mr. Sriram A,Training manager UNICEF- JPPI Project TVM conducted classes on disaster management. Various terminologies related to Disaster; its damage, impact, & risk were introduced to the students. Then the session was gone through Disaster Risk Reduction, Disaster Risk Management, Funding in Disasters, and the Precautions to follow. It was really informative.

International Conference  held on 9th to 11th March 2020 at St. Josephs Training College , Ernakulam in collaboration with CTEF Kerala.  Dr Grace Annie Mathew Chairperson CTEF Kerala gave the presidential address. The seminar was rich in thoughts and reflections  through panel discussions and paper presentations. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr.Rajan Varghese, Higher Education Council, Thiruvananthapuram.

Dr. Ayyappan Nair, Dr. Shnali Chakrbarthi, Dr. Mashuri Isave , Dr.Asha Thochkom and Dr. Nimmi Maria Oommen presented papers in the Panel discussion session. Dr. M.S. Geetha made the theme paper presentation. Dr. V. Reghu  Vicae Chairman Advisory committee  made the valedictory address.

One day National Online Conference on Integrated Teacher Education Programme: Concerns and trends

The CTE KUDAMALOOR and CTEF Kerala jointly organized a   national conference on ITEP In collaboration with Kerala State Higher Education Council, Trivandrum on 18th  July 2020. The major focus of the programme was to develop awareness among teacher educators  and policy makers on issues and emerging trends in the area of ITEP. The organizing committee included Dr Grace Annie Mathews Chair Person CTEF kerala, Dr Rajeswary K General Secretary CTEF, Dr VM Sasikumar National Vice President CTEF South Zone  and Dr M. S Geetha Vice Chairman CTEF  Kerala, The General Convenor of the Seminar Was Dr K Anvar,  Trasurer CTEF  Kerala. There were 260 registration in the Programme of which 186 attended the seminar in the google meet.

 The major themes of the seminar were ITEP Structural Changes, Resource Management. The registration for the seminar began at 9 am and seminar began with a prior at 9.30 am as part of the inaugural session welcome speech was delivered by Dr K Anvar Principal, CPAS CTE Kudamaloor at 9.30 am. Dr Grace Annie Mathew Chairperson CTEF Kerala gave the presidential address at 9.45 am. The inaugural speech was delivered by Dr Rajan Varghese Member Secretary KSHEC Thiruvananthapuram from 9.55 am.  A special address was delivered by Dr.P K Padmakumar Director CPAS, Kottayam From 10.10 am. The felicitations given by Dr V.M Sasikumar National Vice President CTE South Zone and Professor K Jacob Mathew Vice Chairman CTEF Kerala.

The First theme presentations session ITEP Structural Changes was done under chairmanship of Professor K M Bhandakar National President CTEF India. This session consisted of three major sessions first sub themes of which the first topic organization and administrative aspects was handled by Professor K Abdul Gafoor Former HOD Department of education Calicut university. The Second sub theme on curricular changes was elaborated upon by professor Dr Mohammedunni Alias Musthafa,  Dean school of education central university Kerala. The third sub theme of the session started at11.05 a.m on the topic evaluation process and certification by professor Dr Jaya Jaise Dean faculty of Education, M.GUniversity, Kottayam.

The second session of resource management in ITEP was Chaired by Dr M A Sudhir Emeritus scholar Gandhigram Rural Institute Tamilnadu. The session began at 11.15 am the first sub theme of the session ‘Human resource’ was handled by Dr Rajeswari K Principal GCTE Kozhikode, the second subtheme on ‘material resources’ was handled by Dr Geetha Janet Vitus Ass Professor, Department of Education University of Kerala. The third sub theme on ‘money and time’ was elaborated by Dr Pramod Dinakar,  Assistant Professor Chinmaya Viswavidyalaya the session three ITEP concern was chaired by Professor Dr V Reghu Former Dean and controller of Examinations RGNIYD.  The first sub theme of the session Quality assurance (academic, Infrastructure, Evaluation) was handled by Dr Nimmi maria Ommen Assistant Professor Titus II College Thiruvalla.  At 12.25 pm the third sub theme ‘Demand and supply in teaher education’  was elaborated by Dr Malini P.M former principal NSS Training college Pandalam. The third sub theme on the session ‘policy clarification’ was handled by Dr K Y Benedict Principal Mar Theophilus training college thiruvanathapuram.

Online Panel Discussion on ITEP

On 18th  July 2020  a panel discussion on ITEP was conducted. The Panellists include Professor Dr Bindhu CM Department of education University of Calicut and Dean faculty of Education Kannur University, Dr Sam V Daniel Former Principal Mount tabor training college, pathanapuram, Dr Mariamma Mathew,Principal  Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara and  Dr M Omanaseelan, Assistant professor IASE Thrissur.

 The consolidation and valedictory address of the programme was delivered by Dr M S Geetha, Former Dean Faculty of Education University of Kerala and Vice Chairman CTEF Kerala.

ONLINE NATIONAL COLLOQUIUM on National Education Policy 2020-The Game Changer of Indian Education \

A colloquiumconducted by NVKSD College of Education in collaboration with  and COUNCIL FOR TEACHER EDUCATION FOUNDATION ,KERALA(CTEF)on  September 5,  2020 from 10 am to 2.30 pm.      . The webinar was divided into 6 sessions- the Inaugural session,the special address session, the thematic session, the panel discussion session, the discussion session  and the valedictory session.

Dr. S. Devika, Assistant Professor and Co-ordinator IQAC, NVKSD College of Education gave a nut shell of the colloquium. Dr. B.C Sobha, Principal, NVKSD College of Education welcomed the gathering. Adv. S. Krishna Kumar, The Secretary, NVKSD College of Education presided over the colloquium and delivered his presidential address.  In his address he emphasised the comprehensive frame work of NEP in the development of education in our country.

Dr.C.P.Sreekandan Nair former  Dean Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, Kalady(President,Advisory Committee,CTEF Kerala)inaugurated the colloquium.  In his inaugural address he highlighted the accountability of NEP in quality maintenance ,sustenance and promotion of standard education. 

Dr(Professor)NilimaBhagabathy,FormerProfessor,Department of Education,GuwahatiUniversity,Assam and NCTE representative, North East Region and International Secretary General ,CTEF delivered a talk on NEP 2020:A New Vision in Teacher Education.She provided an exemplary insights into the teacher education concerns of NEP  2020

Dr Suresh K.J,,former Associate Professor,N.S.S,TrainingCollege,Changanachery,Kerala,DrMaya.S, Assistant Professor, Mar Theophilus Training College ,Thiruvananthapuram and Dr S.PraveenKumar,AssistantProfessor,N.V.K.S.D.College of Education were the resource persons.Dr Suresh K.J.spoke on a quantum leap to futuristic teacher education through NEP 2020.Dr Maya . S stressed on the highlights and concerns of school education in the perspective of NEP2020.Dr S.Praveen Kumar talked about higher education in the light of NEP 2020.Mr.P.S.Prasad,Assistant Professor,N.V.K.S.D.College of Education delivered the vote o f thanks for the session

The thematic session was  followed by the panel discussion.   A discussion session was arranged after the panel discussion session.Dr. Bobby Mahanta , Principal, Dhupgari College of Education, Jalpayguri and Chair person CEAM Assam Chapter,DrJayakrishnaK,AssistantProfessor,Government College of Teacher Education, Kozhicode,DrPrasandanThayyil,Chief Cardiac Anesthesiologist,SreeMookambika Medical College,Kulashekaram,KanniyakumariDistrict,Tamil Nadu and Mr BijuS.Pillai,Principal,N.V.K.S.Senior Secondary school,Attoor,Kanniyakumari District were the eminent resource persons in the session.The NEP2020 –A general perspective was broadly discussed in the session .The resource persons gave out their insights into the various aspects of NEP2020.The session was highly productive. Dr K.GireeshKumar,AssistantProfessor,N.V.K.S.D.College of Education proposed vote of thanks.

Special Address

The  day was an auspicious occasion for the teachers as the country is celebrating National Teachers Day. In this special occasion Dr Grace Annie Mathews,Chairman CTEF Kerala, conveyed a special Teachers Day message. The session was blessed with an oath taking of Dr A.P.J.AbdulKalam’s oath for teachers by our principal Dr B.C.Sobha. Dr. V. Reghu, Former dean, Professor and Controller of Examination, Rajeev Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Govt. of India, remembered a legend teacher Dr N.P.Pillai. It was a remarkable remembrance. Dr.V.M.Sasikumar, National President, CEM expressed his high notes of appreciation to the Colloquium. Dr. K. Rajeswari, Principal, Govt. College of Teacher Education, Kozhikode and General Secretary CTEF Kerala  gave a special address and spoke on the relevance and significance of NEP in enhancing quality education.

National Seminar on NEP 2020: Towards a Self Reliant India from 15th to 16th Septmber,2020. It was organised by SN Training College ,Moothakunnam, Kerala and CTEF Kerala.Welcome speech was made by the principal of the college Dr. Asha O.S .Introductory remarks was made by Dr. Rajeswari K.  Dr.Rajan Varughese, Member Secretary inaugurated the session. Keala Higher Education Council. Sessions were handled by Dr. Vijaya Kumari, Dr. Seema Tyagi, Dr. Jubilee padmanabhan,Dr. Ushashi Guha,Dr. Biju k, Dr. Madhuri Isave Dr. M.S. Geetha.

A webinar on National Education Policy 2020 : A Critical evaluation on 3rd October 2020-11-30

The theme paper was presented by Dr. K. Sivarajan. Highlights were presented by Dr. Grace Annie Mathew, Dr. Rajeswari K, Dr. V. Reghu, Dr. M.S. Geetha ,  Dr. V. M. Sasikumar, Dr. Maya S, dr. Joju John and dr. K.Y Benedict. The programme was inaugurated by the Most rev. Hon.Bishop Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas, one of the Patrons of CTEF Kerala.

International  Multi disciplinary webinar on Living with COVID 19: Impact on Higher education  in India and Bengladesh

Institute of Education and Research,Jagannadh University, Dhaka, Bengladesh, CEAM India and CTEF jointly organised the webinar on 4,5,&6 October 2020    . Many CTEF life members participated in it and presented papers. Theme papers ere also presented by some of the members.

Workshop for empowering teachers  in Digital skills

Life skill training for teacher Educators In collaboration with Lifeskills Association, CTEF Kerala organised  10 days workshop on Lifeskills for Teacher Educators from 5th November to 13th November 2020.. CTEF officials were the Main resource persons. CTEF officials were the key Resource persons

National Online  Seminar on Mental Health

Anational Seminar on Mental Health was organised in St.Josephs College ,Ernakulam in collaboration wirth CTEF Kerala and CTEF South Zone on Mental Health

Panel Discussion on ITEP

A panel dscussui on ITEP  was organised by CTEF Kerala on 22nd November 2020. Majority of the        CTEF life members under the leadership of Dr. V. Reghu participated in  the programme     It is decided to convene  a press meet in connection with it.
