REPORT OF 

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

ON

TRANSDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES: GLOBAL TRENDS IN EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

12, 13th and 14th January 2023

Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF) Kerala and Mar Baselios College of Education, Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad, Kerala organised the 21st Annual Convention on Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF) Kerala and International Conference on Trans disciplinary Approaches: Global Trends in Education, Research and Development in collaboration with Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC), Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin (AIRIO), Kerala Chapter and Council for Educational Administration and Management (CEAM), Kerala Chapter on 12th, 13th and 14th of January 2023.





DAY 1 – JANUARY 12, 2023 (ONLINE)

The opening day’s events commenced with the registration at 9 am. At 10 am, a flag hoisting ceremony was held and Dr. V. Anilkumar, Principal, Mar Baselios College, Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad (General Convenor) hoisted the flag. It was followed by a briefing of the conference by the Conference coordinator and the Faculty of Mar Baselios College, Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad, Dr. J. Sunil. Then, Prof. Dr. K M Bhandarkar, National President, CTEF India, Prof. Dr. Nilima Bagbati, International Secretary General, CTEF and Dr Grace Annie Mathews, Chairperson, CTEF Kerala addressed the gathering. From 11 am to 1 am a panel discussion was held on the theme Transdisciplinary approaches in managing quality system of education. Prof. Abdul Gafoor, HoD, Department of Education, Calicut University, Kerala moderated the panel discussion. First Panelist, Prof. Asha J.V, School of Pedagogical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam delivered a talk on Managing quality ecosystem in education. Secondly, Dr Bobby Mahanta, Principal, Balurghat B. Ed College, West Bengal talked on Educational outreach program: A step towards developing skills, knowledge and strengthening community. The next panel discussion was on Impact of visuals in Ethanomethodological Studies, by Dr. Archana Pal, Associate Professor, DAV (PG) College, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. After the discussion, the panel presentation was wrapped up with the concluding remarks by the moderator. 

Following the lunch break, paper presentations in online mode were conducted from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. 32 papers were presented online in 6 panels. The First day programme completed with these paper presentations.

 

DAY 2 – JANUARY 13, 2023 (Friday)

The second day started again with the registration. The inaugural session commenced at 10 am with the invocation by the college choir. Dr. V. Anilkumar, Principal officially welcomed the gathering. Dr. M..S.Geetha, Conference Director & Vice Chairperson CTEF Kerala gave a brief introduction to the conference. Dr. Grace Annie Mathews, Chairperson, CTEF Kerala (General Convenor) delivered the presidential address. Most Rev Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas, Bishop of Bathery Diocese, Wayanad (Patron CTEF Kerala) blessed the occasion and inaugurated the conference. Prof. Rajan Varughese, Member Secretary of the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) delivered the inaugural address online. It was followed by the keynote address delivered (online) by Prof (Mag) Dr. Birjit Philips, Bugenland University of Applied Sciences, Austria. From 11.30 am, Memorial lecture on Prof. N.P Pillai  and Prof K Sivadasan Pillai were delivered  by Dr V M Sasikumar, Zonal Chairman CTEF South India  and Dr. K Sivarajan, Former Dean, Faculty of Education, Calicut University respectively. 

11.30pm to 12.30pm, the next segment was held which  included the presentation of CTEF Kerala awards and CTEF India, South Zone awards, followed by the release of  News letter and Books by CTEF and its members. Dr. T.K Mathew, Former Principal, Titus II Teachers College, Thiruvalla (Vice Chairman, CTEF Kerala) and Dr. K.P Anilkumar, Principal, Devaki Amma Memorial College of Education, Kozhikode (Secretary CTEF Kerala) shared their words of appreciation. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rajeswari K, Organizing Secretary & General Secretary CTEF. The technical sessions wound up by 1 pm.

After the lunch break, Panel presentation was held from 1.30pm. The presentation was moderated by Prof. Dr. C.M Bindhu, Department of Education, Calicut University. The main theme was Global trends in education and development. Dr. Mariamma Mathew, Principal, Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikkara, Kerala talked on Gender sensitive Education. Dr. Pratiksha Dixit, Principal, Springfields, Moradabad, UP talked on The pursuit of leadership through happiness. Dr. Pooja Walia, Asst. Prof. Department of Education, Mizoram University talked on Facilitating Learning and Industrial Revolution 4.0. After the discussion, the moderator wound up the session with the concluding remarks. From 3.30 pm onwards, paper presentation competition was conducted in the main auditorium and General paper presentation parallel sessions were held in Gandhi, Vivekananda and Priyadarsini Halls. Suggestions were given, doubts were clarified and discussions on the paper were done. At 5.30 pm, General Body meeting, CTEF Kerala was held and the second day wound up at 7.30 pm with the cultural programmes by the students of Mar Baselios College of Education which lasted for 1hour.

DAY 3 – JANUARY 14, 2023 (Saturday)

On the final day of the conference, paper presentations began at 9.30 AM. Thematic Session started at 10.00 am and was led by Dr. N. Johnson, HoD i/c Dept. of Lifelong Learning, Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu on the topic Global Trends in Lifelong Learning: The covenant high education perspective. The second thematic session was led by Dr. K.Y Benedict, Principal, Mar Theophilus Training College, Thiruvananthapuram, Vice President CTEF Kerala on the theme, A search into the scope and meaning of transdisciplinarity in teaching and research. There were a total of 50 paper presentations on these three days, both in online and offline mode. We thank all the theme presenters, panel presenters and chair persons who served as resource persons in this academic endeavour. The following resource persons chaired the sessions. They are as follows Dr. Vijaya Kumari K, Dr. Arun kumar P, Dr. Joseph Kacharayil, Dr. Mumthas N.S, Dr. Anila Chacko, Dr. Meenasky Ramachandran, Dr. Puneet Walia, Dr. Maya S, Dr. Issac Paul, Dr. Babu C.K, Dr. Joju John, Dr. Anwar K, Dr. Pramod Dinakar, Dr. Bindu K J, Dr. Saramma Chandy, Dr. Neena Thomas, Dr. K.S Sajan, Dr. Ancy A.S. and Dr Bindu T A.

The valedictory session commenced at 11.30 pm. Dr. Mariamma Mathew, Principal of Peet Memorial Training College Mavelikkara  officially welcomed the gathering. Dr. Anvar. K, Principal, UCTE, Kudamaloor and Treasurer, CTEF Kerala  presented the resume of the conference .  

 Dr. Grace Annie Mathews, Chairperson, CTEF Kerala delivered the Presidential address. The valedictory address was delivered online by Prof. Dr.V.Reghu,Former Controller of Examinations, RGNIYD, Chennai, TN. Then, awards distribution for the paper presentation competitions and the honouring of Ph. D awardees were held. Then the  platform was open for the sharing of experiences and reflections.  The delegates Dr Mariamma Chandy, Ms Akansha Prajapathy Ms Remya Raj  and Dr Ayana Jaison shared their experience about the conference. Dr. Rajeswari. K, Organizing Secretary and General Secretary CTEF Kerala proposed the vote of thanks. The conference ended by around 1.30 pm with the National Anthem. 

The conference was a rich and remarkable experience. The CTEF family thank and acknowledge the sincere efforts rendered  by all the members of Mar Baselios College of Education, Sultan Bathery, KSHEC,AIRIO and CEAM.
