Dr. N. D. Joshi Memorial Rolling Trophy - Invitation of Applications

Dr. N. D. Joshi Memorial Rolling Trophy

The 'Dr. N. D. Joshi Memorial Rolling Trophy' is awarded to Teacher Education Institutions (Institutional Life Members of CTE Kerala) for their involvement and support to the programmes of CTE and in turn strengthen the cause of Teacher Education in the state. This Rolling Trophy is instituted to commemorate the valuable contributions of Dr. N. D. Joshi, Former Faculty Member, Department of Education, University of Kerala and Former Visiting Faculty, School of Pedagogical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University and a pioneer of tribal education. This Rolling trophy is sponsored by the Doctoral students of Dr. Joshi. The institution is identified on the basis of the criteria developed by the CTE, Kerala State Centre.

Applications are invited from Institutional Life Members of CTE Kerala for the 'Dr. N. D. Joshi Memorial Rolling Trophy' for the year 2015-'16.

AWARDS /HONOURS INSTITUTED BY CTE-KERALA

Dr. K. Sivadasan Pillai Memorial Award for Academic Excellence

CTE Kerala State Centre has instituted the Dr. K. Sivadasan Pillai Memorial Award for Academic Excellence to honour the pioneers of Education in the country for their outstanding achievement in the field of Teacher Education as well as in the public domain. This award is instituted in the name of the great educationalist Dr. K. Sivadasan Pillai, who was the founder Chairman of CTE in the state and the pioneer of various Academic activities in the country and abroad. This Award, constituted in 2008, after the sad demise of Dr. Pillai, consists of a cash award of Rs.10,001/- and a Citation. The awardee will be selected by a committee constituted by CTE Kerala.


Dr. K. Soman Memorial Award for Teacher Educator of the Year

The 'Best Teacher Educator Award' is constituted by the CTE, Kerala State Centre to motivate practicing teacher educators to be a model to students and society from 2004 onwards,  Later it was renamed as 'Award for Teacher Educator of the Year' in the year 2008. Now this Award is known as 'Dr. K. Soman Memorial Award for Teacher Educator of the Year' as a tribute to the great Educationist and pioneer of Teaching of Mathematics. The Award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 2000/- , Memento and Certificate. The amount for this award is sponsored by the family of Dr. K. Soman.


 Dr. N. Vedamani Memorial Award for Best Paper Presenter

In order to empower and motivate teacher educators, the Best Paper Presenter Award has been instituted by CTE, Kerala.  Dr. N. Vedamani Manual, then Patron of CTE, was the initiator of this attempt in 2006. As a tribute to the veteran educationist, Former Professor & Head, Department of Education, University of Kerala and Former UNESCO Expert, the award is named "Dr. N. Vedamani Manual Memorial Award for Best Paper Presenter'. It consist Rs.1000/-, Memento & Certificate.

Honouring of Doctoral Degree Awardees

In order to foster research aptitude among teacher educators (Life Members) the CTE, Kerala State Centre has initiated a programme to honour the Doctoral Degree Awardees among the Life Members of the state. This was started at the First State Convention of CTE (2001) held at Mar Theophilus Training College, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. Gulab Chaurasia, National President, CTE, presented the mementoes and certificates to the awardees. Since then it is a regular event in the state convention.

K. M. Jacob & Mary Jacob Ever Rolling Trophy for Student - Teachers

First Rank Holder of B.Ed. Course, University of Kerala, is honoured with K.M. Jacob & Mary Jacob Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy  sponsored by Prof. K. Jacob Mathew, Former Member Syndicate, University of Kerala; and Former Principal, Govt. College of Teacher Education, as a tribute to his beloved parents. The Ever-Rolling Trophy is given to the institution where the Rank Holder has studied and the Student- Teacher will be presented with a memento and certificate.


Dr. P. K. Sudheesh Kumar Memorial award for Best paper on ‘Innovations/ Advancements in Education’

‘Award for Best paper on ‘Innovations/ Advancements in Education’ is instituted by CTE Kerala in memorial of Dr.P.K. Sudheesh Kumar who was Reader in the Department of Education, University of Calicut, Kerala. This award, sponsored by Dr. C. M. Bindhu, (w/o Late Dr. P. K. Sudheesh Kumar) Associate Professor,  Farook Training College, Calicut intends to motivate teacher educators and to foster creativity and sense of innovative spirit among them. The award consists of a Cash of Rs. 1000/-, memento and a certificate. This award is open to all the participants who present paper in the Annual Conventions/ Conferences organized by CTE Kerala. The awardee is selected from among the papers accepted for presentation in CTE conference/ convention on the basis of criteria developed by CTE.

15th Annual Convention of CTE Kerala State Chapter and International Seminar- Preliminary Planning Meeting, St. Thomas Training College, Mannanthala, Thiruvananthapuram - October 7, 2016





REPORT OF THE PRELIMINARY MEETING OF CTE ANNUAL CONFERENCE
A Prephase meeting of the 15th Annual Conference of Council for Teacher Education (CTE)was held at St.ThomasTraining College (STTC), Mukkolakkal, Thiruvananthapuram on 7th October 2016 at 1.30 pm in the College Library. St.Thomas Training College has extended their willingness to host the 15th International Seminar of CTE in collaboration with Common Wealth Council for Educational Administration &Management (CCEAM) and Association of International Researchers of Indian Origin(AIRIO),Kerala Chapters.

Minutes of the Meeting
·         The meeting presidedover  byDr.C.P.Sreekantan Nair, Chairman, CTE commenced with a silent prayer followed by a moments silence in remembrance of the untimely demise of Ms.Sheeja.R, Asst. Professor, Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikkara who is a life member of CTE.
·         Chairman in his introductory remark mentioned the judicious planning and meticulous preparation required for the smooth conduct of the Seminar.
·         Principal conveyed the change in  the proposed  date for the Seminar as  2,3 and 4 February, 2017, as against the earlier decided date ( 4, 5 & 6th January,2017).

Finalization of the Topic for the International Seminar
·         The title and sub themes for the Seminar prepared by the College were subjected to discussion. Modification in the same was decided to be finalized by 14th October seeking the opinion of a Committee comprising of Dr. K. Y. Benedict, Dr. Bindu R.L, Dr. K.Rajeshweri, MsAnila Chacko and the  Seminar Convenors.

Discussion and finalization regarding the Brochure

·         It was decided to finalise the draft of the brochure with basic details to reach the interested to enable them to prepare for the Seminar.
Agenda 3  
     Letter Head for further communication regarding the Seminar

·         The format of  Letter Head through which communication for the Seminar is to be send was prepared by the College. Changes in the same were suggested.
·         A separate e-mail id to be created to which all communications regarding the Seminar has to be send& received.

 Agenda 4
 Any other matter with the permission of the Chairman

Decided to explore the financial support of
i) Higher Education Council, Kerala,
ii)State Resource Centre(SRC), Kerala ,
iii)Child Development Centre(CDC), Medical College and                                 
iv)ICSSR.
·
         Abstract and Compendium – necessity and requirements for the same was suggested.

The meeting ended  at 4 pm on a positive note, with all officials of CTE extending all support for the conduct of the Seminar.
