Dr. Celine Pereira, Associate Professor, School of Pedagogical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, is the recipient of the 'Dr. K. Soman Memorial Award for Teacher Educator of the Year - 2012' , for her exemplary services to Teacher Education and Research in Education, as well as her wide ranging academic activities in the field of formal and non-formal education.

'Dr. K. Soman Memorial Award for Teacher Educator of the Year', a tribute to the great Educationist and pioneer of Teaching of Mathematics.' is constituted by the CTE, Kerala State Centre to motivate practising teacher educators to be a model to students and society from 2004 onwards. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 2000/- , Memento and Certificate.

The award will be given to Dr. Celine Pereira, on the 12^th of January 2013, in the valedictory function of the 11^th State Convention of CTE and International Seminar at Fathima Memorial Training College, Kollam.

CTE 11th STATE CONVENTION AND INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR- IQEE 2013: SPEAKERS FROM DENMARK, UK AND GERMANY FOR INVITED TALK ON 12th JANUARY

The foreign delegates cum speakers for the Invited talks on various aspects of the major theme of the International Seminar on ‘Innovation, Quality and Excellence in Education’ in connection with the 11^th State Convention of CTE, Kerala at FMTC, Pallimukku, Kollam has reached the State capital the other day. 

Ms. Nina Ferdinand

Prof. Elizabeth Wolbes (Germany) will give a talk on ‘Cultural Integration through Language Learning: Tackling the 21^st Century Dilemma around the World’. Ms. Nina Ferdinand Petersen (Denmark) will deliver a talk on 'Journalistic principles in education and the Danish educational system'. Ms. Penny Somerville (UK) will talk on ‘Art Education for Harmony and Peaceful Co-existence’.

Along with them Mr. Ullas Ravi and Mr. Robin Tommy Learning Consultants, TCS, Bangalore also will join us on 12^th for the invited talk. They will speak on ‘ICT Integration in Education:  Recent Success Stories and Institutional Achievements’. The guests for invited talk will be available for interaction up to noon in the convention venue. 

Dr. N. D. JOSHI MEMORIAL AWARD FOR INSTITUTIONAL EXCELLENCE - 2013 for FATHIMA MEMORIAL TRAINING COLLEGE, PALLIMUKKU, KOLLAM

Fathima Memorial Training College, Pallimukku, Kollam is selected for the Dr. N. D. Joshi Memorial Award for Academic Excellence – 2013. The award will be given to FMTC on 12^th January 2013 in the valedictory ceremony of the 11^th State Convention of CTE by Sri. A. Peethambara Kurupu, Member of Parliament of Kollam constituency.

The award committee appreciated the positive attitude exhibited by the college family and the management in the earnest support extended to development of the Teacher Education community by hosting the 11^th State Convention and International Seminar and Exhibition from 10^th to 12^th of January 2013 at the college.  The Dr. N. D. Joshi Memorial Award was instituted in 2011-’12 by the Doctoral students of Prof. Dr. Joshi who formerly served as Professor in Education at Kerala University, Thiruvananthapuram and Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Dr. Joshi was an earnest researcher cum activist in tribal education in Kerala. Last year the award was bagged by Mar Theophilus Training College, Nalanchira, Thiruvananthapuram.

The  FMTC, Kollam began in 1997 as a self-financing college affiliated to University of Kerala.  Today it has both Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate courses in Education. Recently the college was assessed and accredited by NAAC with a prestigious ‘A’ Grade. Former Member of Kerala Legislative Assembly Dr. A. Yunus Kunju, is the Founder and Director of the college. Mrs. Anitha N., is the Principal of the college. A team of dedicated teaching faculty and administrative staff members form the basis for the achievement and glory of the college. 

C T E KERALA OPENS A FOREIGN THESIS ADJUDICATORS PANEL AS A RESEARCH SUPPORT INITIATIVE

CTE Kerala is forming a panel of foreign thesis adjudicators to help the members, and also the social science and educational researchers. Utilizing the academic link through the International Chapters of CTE, the state office bearers will help those aspiring researchers to get the assistance of foreign examiners for their theses evaluation. The panel will be ready by 1^st of March 2013. All are welcome to use this opportunity.

Dr. R. Sukumaran Nair is selected for the Dr. K. Sivadasan Pilllai Memorial award for Academic Excellence 2012

Dr. R. Sukumaran Nair, former Professor and Head of the Department of Education, Calicut University, is selected for this year’s Academic Excellence award instituted by CTE Kerala State Centre in commemoration of Dr. K. Sivadasan Pilllai, the founder chairman of CTE Kerala State Centre. The octogenarian award winner has more than six decades of teaching and research career spreading across schools, colleges and Universities.  Besides being Professor at Calicut University he has been instrumental in the forming the academic infrastructure of Sri Sanakara Sanskrit university at Kalady in its early years as Professor in its teaching faculty. He is a multi-lingual expert and an ardent orator, and has published many books and research papers. The award consist of a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a citation which will be handed over to the recipient on 11^th January at 10am in the inaugural ceremony of the 11^th State Convention of CTE  to be held at Fathima Memorial Training College, Pallimukku, Kollam. The prize money is sponsored by the research students of Dr. K. Sivadasan Pillai.
