THEO RADIO LAUNCHED

THEO RADIO – A Three Years old experimental Campus Radio of Mar Theophilus Training College, Nalanchira, Thiruvananthapuram, was officially launched on 24th October 2011 in a colourful function held at the college. The launching was jointly officiated by lighting the traditional Kerala lamp by Radio Mirchi fame R.J. Mr. Gokul and Sri. A. Prabhakaran, the Director of IGNOU-Gyanvani FM Radio, Thiruvnanthapuram.  The Student-Teacher led THOE RADIO may be an innovative practice of its kind at a Teacher Education college in the country. The three year piloting of the experiment generated much enthusiasm, flexibility and energy in the academic atmosphere of the college.  The daily ten minutes long broadcasting of the radio was an occasion for a real experience of modern educational concepts of edutainment and infotainment o the college community as a whole. The media club of the college was the official platform which shouldered the task venturing into the realization of a novel concept of this kind and nature. The open house on convergence of education and media was led by Sri. A. Prabhakaran. Principal of the college Dr. A. Mercykuty, College Union Chairman and Media club President Binish K., Programme Officer Dr. K. Y. Benedict, Media Club Secretary Jeena Venugopal and College Union General Secretary Soorya Thengamam spoke on the occasion. Following the inaugural ceremony a festival of short films directed and produced by Student-Teachers of the Trivandrum City Colleges of Teacher Education was also held. The THEO RADIO is expected to be a full-fledged Educational FM Station during the period of 12th five Year Plan.
